Team Finland China is organizing a business delegation visit to Jilin on December 16 - 17, 2020. The visit is led by Mr. Jarno Syrjala , Ambassador of Finland to China.


This visit offers an excellent opportunity for Finnish companies that operate in Winter Sports, W2E, clean energy as sources for heating and digitalization to further expand their presence in China. The visit consists of meetings with relevant provincial government authorities, Chinese companies and universities as well as seminars and match making events with local companies.


Why Jilin?


Guided by "Suggestions on taking 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an Opportunity to Develop Ice and Snow Sports and Ice and Snow Economy in Jilin Province" issued on Nov.22, 2019 by Jilin Government, Jilin Province will continue the implementation of the "MOU Between Jilin People's Government and Business Finland on the Winter Sports, Economic and Trade Cooperation", which as agreed, is focused on the ice arena, snow projects, winter sports education and training, winter sports events, ice and snow tourism and consumer goods. In addition to the existing cooperation, such as ski jumping, four-season ski tunnel, ski resorts development, athletes coaching, the new areas, such as cross country ski center, ice arena construction, winter sports education, ski gears will be the new identified business opportunities.


Jilin is strong in biomass resources, especially agricultural waste. There is big potential in Jilin for biomass utilization and W2E. Currently the power generated by biomass is about 536,000KW, which is only 2% of total power generation and pose a good opportunity for relevant Finnish energy companies.


By the end of 2020, there will be newly increased urban heating capacity of 120 million square meters in Jilin. The government will vigorously promote clean energy as sources for heating and heat pump technologies. At the same time, the government will accelerate the exploration, development and utilization of renewable and clean energy. There are also bid demands in Jilin for energy saving solutions, such as in automotive industry (FAW) and other traditional heavy industries.


Since 2018, Jilin has been actively promoting the development of Digital Jilin in terms of smart manufacturing, digital government, smart agriculture and smart cultural & tourism. For New Infrastructure Plan, Jilin plan to have 2188 projects with a total investment of 1,096.2 billion RMB where big data, cloud computing, AI, Internet+ will become the focus fields of development. Jilin government put huge effort to promote digital transformation for manufacturing industry, especially for automobile industry. FAW (First Automobile Works) is actively cooperating with innovation companies to develop smart manufacturing.
