This year, 18 Finnish companies were featured at the Finland Country Pavilion, with an additional 6 companies having their own booths. Notably, a significant portion of these companies were from the food sector, and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Sari Essayah's visit played a crucial role in providing valuable traction. According to China Briefing, the United States had its largest and highest-level delegation at the CIIE this year since the event's inception in 2018, as part of efforts to address the decoupling.

Looking ahead, today on November 15, U.S. President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping face-to-face during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco Bay. CNBC cited that this anticipated interaction is expected to cover a wide range of global issues, spanning from the Israel-Hamas conflict to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, North Korea's ties with Russia, Taiwan, the Indo-Pacific, human rights, fentanyl, artificial intelligence, as well as discussions on "fair" trade and economic relations. Naturally, we all hope some concrete, positive outcomes from the meeting.

FinnChams, in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy and Business Finland in China, convened for a two-day Team Finland China biannual meeting on November 13-14. The second day welcomed the participation of Finnish companies. In addition to exploring next year's economic and operational developments in China, FinnChams, along with company representatives, delved into a panel discussion on the Team Finland China October pulse survey. Despite a slowing economy, the survey reflected an optimistic outlook on the development of the business environment in China. Notably, company representatives physically present in China expressed a more positive outlook than those located in Finland.

On Monday evening we had a great pleasure to celebrate Finnair's 100th birthday at the Ambassador's Residence, in which most of our member companies also participated. Below are some photos from the event.

For companies there are a variety of events available both online and offline, including thematic training sessions in Chinese on Sales and Governmental Affairs, as well as a factory tour to the Glaston Tianjin factory, a pioneer in glass technology. The Greener Together series, conducted in collaboration with Danish and Norwegian chambers, has two upcoming events, with the first scheduled for next week. As the holiday season approaches, preparations are underway for a traditional Christmas party exactly one month from now. Take a look and register at the event section.
