FBCB Newsletter February 2020 |
| Dear friends and members of FBCB,
The Coronavirus epidemic has captured almost all media attention in China since January 23rd, and is taking more and more space in the media all over the world. In spite of China’s enormous effort to prevent COVID-19 spreading beyond Hubei, the tiny virus is conquering the world. Based on WHO statistics ( www.who.int) the virus has already spread to 44 countries, and new ones emerge daily. There is currently no treatment for Coronavirus - only supportive care to help the body’s immune system fight the disease. And prevention. |
Prevention costs a lot. So, from a business perspective, the impact is huge. The influence is not limited to the Chinese markets, and affects everyone globally. According to Telegraph ( www.telegraph.co.uk) Coronavirus will have a greater impact on global trade than the US-China trade war. China is the largest export economy in the world (OEC), as well as the world’s largest manufacturer (CMIIT). China is also the world’s biggest luxury consumer, and a rapidly growing country in tourism with 150 million overseas trips made by Chinese travelers last year. From all these aspects, the Coronavirus outbreak has hit hard. It’s estimated that 87% of working population works now from home in China. Most of the factories, shops and offices remained closed through February. At this moment it’s still hard to estimate when business will return back to normal. Late February, cross-province delivery services have resumed work, and gradually banks and other essential services have been following. March will show how fast this economic giant will recover. |
At the end of February, Team Finland in Beijing organized a webinar for Finnish companies in China about the business impact of the Coronavirus. It is clear that tourism, transportation, manufacturing, luxury product sales, and service sectors will have an impact on their turnover at least in the short term. But there are also Finnish businesses which are doing well amidst this strange situation - all digital and online services e.g. the gaming industry, online education, digital applications in health care, and so on. According to China Daily, Finland is the fifth most competitive economy in the world. Naturally, the Finnish companies providing smart solutions in air purifiers, masks, and other disinfection methods have been in high demand. Great examples of these have been Lifa Air, and AAVI Technologies - this month’s guest writer. Read more in this newsletter, on how AAVI has contributed to defeating the Coronavirus in Wuhan.

Guest writer AAVI Technologies: IMPORTANCE OF AIR QUALITY |
Airborne particles are everywhere and outdoor impurities accumulate in our everyday places. Emissions from industrial processes, traffic exhausts and energy production, all affect the air we breathe. Air quality is important to our wellbeing, both indoors and outside.
By reducing air pollution levels, people will be healthier Industrial emission control is beyond necessary, because polluted air leads to health complications and compromises the quality of life. According to World Health Organization (WHO) air pollution is a major environmental level health problem affecting worldwide – in developed and developing countries alike.
People spend 90% of time indoors. The quality of indoor air inside homes, offices, schools, malls, transport facilities, workshops, warehouses etc. can be improved. Air quality is important for people’s comfort as poor indoor air has been tied to symptoms like headaches, fatigue, trouble concentrating, and irritation of eyes, nose, throat and lungs. Also, some specific diseases have been linked to specific air contaminants or indoor environments, like asthma. Air quality affects respiratory and cardiovascular health the most, increasing the incidence of respiratory infections and even heart disease and lung cancer. AAVI’s mission is to provide clean air for better life. AAVI is an expert in air purification and emission control. AAVI’s unique technology enables customers to have clean and healthy environment in a sustainable way. |
PATENTED AAVI TECHNOLOGY
Patented AAVI-technology in based on the ionization of particles. It challenges traditional air purification technologies in efficiency, durability and flexibility. As an innovative high-tech company specialized in clean-tech field, AAVI offers diversified and no-filter air purification solutions not only for indoor spaces but also for example in control of industrial emissions to the athmosphere.
AAVI technology removes even nano-sized particles from indoor air. They also remove chemicals, mold, pollen, allergens, viruses and bacteria as well as traffic-originated soot efficiently and economically. AAVI air purifiers are filter free, thus they don’t need maintenance or filter change. AAVI air purifiers are cleaned by using water, which makes AAVI an environmentally friendly choice. AAVI air purifiers are capable of handling large amounts of impurities. AAVI MARKETS MAINLY IN CHINA
AAVI air purifiers are used for many schools, daycare centers, public and residential locations, commercial and private buildings.
AAVI technology is also used for industrial purifiers. The simultaneous removal of gas and particles is important in industrial emission control. The AAVI air purifiers are used in several endofpipe solutions. Purifying outgoing air makes industrial plants and mills more environmental friendly and better adapted by neighboring communities. Also industrial indoors e.g. dusty metal workshops and warehouses are using AAVI air purification solutions. 95 % of all products are sold to the Chinese market by AAVI Technologies Co. Ltd.’s Chinese parent company, Synergy New Technologies Service Co., Ltd. In order to fulfill the growing demand in Asia, AAVI Technologies Co., Ltd. established a factory near Shanghai in 2018; AAVI Technologies Jiangsu Co., Ltd. is producing air purifiers for industrial and commercial use in its 120.000 m2 facilities. |
As coronavirus epidemic started in Wuhan, Aavi Technologies Oy was immediately offering help; tests conducted by Finnish governmental research institute (VTT) have proved that AAVI Leaf® air purifier efficiently removes i.a. coronavirus sized particles (ca. 100 nm) (Report CR-02641, 2018, ”Microbiological efficacy testing of Aavi Leaf purification device”).Pathogens are killed and seized by the collector surfaces from where they are automatically removed. The purification efficiency is significantly higher than that of any other filter technology (e.g. UV light or HEPA filter). The technology ensures continuous high purification efficiency due to absence of clogging and changeable filters, and the devices can be safely serviced and maintained. So far Aavi has donated and sold almost one thousand AAVI Leaf air purifiers to different Wuhan and Suzhou hospitals. Aavi also donated 74 bigger AAVI IonJet 2000 air purification devices to Wuhan Donghu Gaoxin Qu temporary hospital (opened 14th February 2020, so far 1300 patients). CONTINUOUS R&D
AAVI design team has more than 100 years of cumulative experience in air purification technology and design. Research and development focus on customer specific solutions with efficiency, reliability, safety and customer friendly use. To make sure AAVI air purifiers meet the customer specifications, AAVI has an inhouse testing laboratory to carry out prototype testing and final product quality assurance. Each product manufactured is tested and has a unique signed certificate.
